Accel, formerly known as Accel Partners, is a global venture capital firm that invests in enterprise, SaaS, and consumer companies across seed, early, and growth-stage funding rounds worldwide. The firm was founded in 1983 by Arthur Patterson and Jim Swartz and is headquartered in Palo Alto, California, with additional offices in San Francisco, London, and India. Its most notable investment was a $12.7 million investment in Facebook in 2005, which became one of the most lucrative in venture capital history.
