The company, Suno, Inc., was founded in Cambridge, Massachusetts, by former Kensho employees Michael Shulman, Georg Kucsko, Martin Camacho, and Keenan Freyberg. It released an open-source text-to-speech model named Bark in April 2023. The platform became widely available in December 2023 following the launch of a web application and a partnership with Microsoft, which integrated Suno as a plugin for its Copilot. The company is currently involved in a copyright infringement lawsuit filed by the Recording Industry Association of America.
