Epic Games, Inc. is an American video game and software developer and publisher based in Cary, North Carolina. The company was founded in 1991 by Tim Sweeney. Neuralink Corp. is an American neurotechnology company that develops implantable brain–computer interfaces (BCIs). Founded in 2016 by Elon Musk and a team of scientists and engineers, the company is based in Fremont, California. Neuralink has developed a system that uses thin, flexible electrode threads implanted by a specialized device; it demonstrated a system reading data from a lab rat using 1,500 electrodes in 2019. The company received U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval to commence its first human clinical trials in May 2023. As of 2024, Neuralink is focused on advancing its human trial program and expanding its manufacturing and office facilities.
