BYD Auto Co., Ltd. is the automotive subsidiary of BYD Company, a Chinese manufacturer specializing in battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). The company also produces electric buses and trucks and markets its vehicles under its main BYD brand and its high-end Denza, Fangchengbao, and Yangwang brands. Established in 2003, BYD Auto launched its first plug-in hybrid in 2008 and its first battery electric vehicle in 2009.
